Planting Has Begun At The Boys & Girls Club

On October 16, 2020, Canopy Project Kawartha Lakes put its first trees in the ground!  13 trees were planted at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Kawartha Lakes (now known as BGC Kawarthas) property at 107 Lindsay Street South.  A group of CPKL volunteers and BGC staff were supported by John Bush, Co-President of Environmental Action Bobcaygeon and Fleming College.  Topsoil was donated by Emerald Green Property Services and mulch by Fleming. The Boys And Girls Clubs Kawartha Lakes

CPKL has chosen the Boys and Girls Clubs of Kawartha Lakes (now known as BGC Kawarthas) as its first project. The group will improve the diversity and coverage of the urban canopy on the 7-acre site on Lindsay Street South, which is a hub for families, fully accessible to the public, and connected to city trails. BGC has a site plan which denotes the species and placement of trees on its 7-acre property. Our new website will help us get you the information you need as well as help us get the word out that we are here. Hopefully we can gain some interest in putting some trees in the ground enhancing the urban canopy in our community. We also aim to develop some great new relationships with other organizations, local businesses and the great residents of The City Of Kawartha Lakes.
